Jewish Communal Leadership

Our Jewish Communal Teen Leadership program is an opportunity for 11th and 12th-grade students (over a two-year period) to learn about the greater Jewish community and issues impacting Israel, as well as participate in Jewish service-learning. Participants who complete the two-year program receive a certificate in Jewish Communal Leadership from Temple Beth Shalom.

Past sessions have included:

  • Choosing a Jewish college.
  • Israel Advocacy for teens.
  • Why Areyvut? The responsibility of Jews to do Jewish justice work.

Past service-learning experiences have included:

  • Packing food for homebound seniors.
  • Conducting an interfaith MLK Day service with Convenant House in Newark.
  • Participating in JSERVE with JTeen MetroWest.
